What your membership covers

If your club requires a membership alongside program registration, here's what that means and how paying for it works.

What a membership is

A membership is separate from registering for a specific program or season — it's your (or your athlete's) standing as a member of the club itself. Some clubs require an active membership before you can register for certain programs; others don't require one at all. Each membership has its own coverage window, shown as a start and end date (or "ongoing" for a monthly membership), and your club's own description of what it includes — ask them directly if you're not sure what's covered.

Individual vs. family memberships

Some clubs offer both individual memberships, which cover one named athlete, and family memberships, which cover every athlete registered under the same parent/guardian email. If your club offers a family membership and you have more than one athlete, check with them about which option saves you money before you register the second child.

How you pay for it

You don't buy a membership on its own — it's added automatically to your registration checkout the first time you register an athlete for a program that requires it, if that athlete isn't already covered. You'll see it as a separate line item alongside the program fee, and you pay for both together in one card payment.

If your club has already registered your other athlete under a family membership, or you've already paid for this athlete this period, you won't be charged for it again — you'll just see the program fee.

A confirmation email is sent to the address you registered with, listing your confirmation number, the program fee, the membership fee (if any), and the total charged. Keep it for your records.

Renewing

Most memberships expire at the end of a season, calendar year, or 12 months from purchase, depending on how your club set it up. Some clubs will email you a heads-up before yours expires. Either way, you renew the same way you originally enrolled: register your athlete for a program again, and if the membership has expired, it's added to that checkout the same way it was the first time.

A monthly membership does not automatically bill you again each month today — it's a one-time charge at registration. If your club offers ongoing monthly billing in the future, they'll make that clear before you pay.

Questions about your membership

Your club — not ClubHQ — sets pricing, requirements, and what's included in a membership. If something looks off on your receipt or you're not sure whether you're covered, the fastest answer is to contact your club directly; they can see your enrollment and payment history on their end.
